Merry Little Mice

So this is year 2 for me at TM. I began teaching classes a little over 2 years ago and what a whirl wind it has been! I have enjoyed every minute of it, learning so much about teaching, scrapping and everything in between! I love the people I work with and I love the classes that I have taught. Today we had the 2nd annual 12 month calendar class and it was a blast! These pictures are just a few of the ones we took at our Christmas party. Sorry for the one of me sticking out my tongue but that's how we are when we all get together. I will post a few more to share with you in a couple of days...THEY WERE FUNNY! Merry Christmas to you ALL!

Corrine Broussard Murphey

Corrine will sadly be missed by the Broussard and Reaux families. She was such a wonderful person. I have so many fun filled memories of visiting her in Breaux Bridge as a young child. She also filled my oldest son with fun music memories as well. It will be strange to think she is no longer around. We miss you Aunt Corrine!

BREAUX BRIDGE - A religious funeral service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Corinne Broussard Murphey, 104, who passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at 12:34 am, at Dauterive Hospital.Mrs. Murphey, was born to Simon Broussard and Constance Hardy in 1904 and was to remain the only daughter in a family of six sons. Mrs. Murphey's memories began as a tot living on her great-grandmother's plantation in Lafayette, the current site of the Cajundome and Cajun Field. Her father was the overseerer for a few years. She remembered living in the huge house with a big front porch being carried around by the servants to see the chickens and the cows.Life back in Breaux Bridge was equally as pleasant, but as the only girl with six brothers, she was often shooed away to play with her dolls. The family lived on farmland where Huval's Insurance and Pizza Hut are located. She got around in a horse and buggy on dirt and gravel roads. Her teenage years in Breaux Bridge were the best of times. Summer afternoons were spent visiting in the park. Sometimes they had their own entertainment. Corinne could play the ukelele, sing, and dance, and gracefully converse with people from all cultures and walks of life. She also was an accomplished pianist.Over the years, Corinne traveled extensively and lived in various locations, but mostly in Breaux Bridge. She enjoyed being in various music clubs. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Canasta. She also was a member of garden clubs. She regularly attended meetings of the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Home Demonstation Club. The things most important to her were her rosary group, being a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and her family. She loved her son, Winn, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren were all graduates of LSU. She also attended LSU.People often asked her secret to a long life. She replied, "good genes." Her grandfather lived to 94 and her maternal grandmother lived to 94. She said she never smoked, tried to eat good foods and keep away from rich foods-except ice cream. She also included her wonderful neighbors. They enabled her to live a long, truly blessed life. When she went to bed at night, she would pray to keep well, as she wanted to care for herself. She said living a long life is essential to living a good one.Mrs. Murphey is survived by her loving son, Winn, of New Iberia; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; plus a number of nieces and nephews.Mrs. Murphey was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Broussard of Breaux Bridge, her husband, John Smith Murphey, of Fulton, Ky.; her six brothers, Sam, Claude, Fernand, Whitney, Henry, and Raoul.Acadian Funeral Home, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, Phone 364-6162 is in charge of the arrangements.

Sneaux Days in Pont Breaux

Okay, the one stinkin' day that it SNEAUXS...I can't even pick my head up off the pillow. I had come down with my annual sinus infection (by the way, it use to be monthly!) and I hear Drew "Mom, Mom it's snowing!" It killed me that I felt so bad that I didn't even want to get up. I finally drug myself out of bed to take a few shots, Jonathan said he took a few pictures but I just knew he didn't get enough. Little Dax didn't even play in the SNEAUX until he got to the sitter's house...THANK heaven for BA!
To me I felt as though I was getting signs on this day. My great aunt (Corrine Murphey)that was 104 passed away the way before and it felt as though she made this MIRACLE happen. She will be sadly missed. I will post her obit soon so that you all can read her story...she was a lovely lady with so much class and dignity!

Clipboard Class

This past Sunday I had a private class for a very nice lady, Angela, and she brought many of her family members and their friends and we made some awesome clipboards. Angela said the girls talked about their clipboards and how much fun they had all the way home. Well, girls I had just a much fun with you all! They were precious! All of their clipboards came out fabulous and they all looked so different (not one of them chose the same papers.) Angela, enjoyed the clipboard so much that she asked if I could make one for a dear friend of hers. Well, here is the outcome, these are the colors she asked for and I think they are so beautiful! Please let me know what you think. If you need one made just let me know, I enjoyed making this one. Here is the clipboard that I made for my niece for Christmas. I made a secret pocket with a picture of her sister, Ming. I just need to add her picture to the front of the board.

Fun Night w/ Friends

I had to sneaked a few things home. Jeanne will never miss anything! Just kidding.

I want to give a great big SHOUT OUT to Jeanne Pellerin. Jeanne and I go way back...college days. We were sorority sisters (AOII at UL) and we actually live next door to each other at our apt. complex. Anyway, we met up back at Janet's old store when Jeanne moved back to town and she is such a fun and crazy gal. She was on the TM design team this past year and she had a get together at her house and all I can say is OMG!!!! Her studio is fabulous! Equip with everything possible that you would need to scrapbook and more! I want to Thank her for including me in her group. I had a blast with her and the other girls. We laughed so much and I even drank a Lemon Martini (thanks Lisa for the introduction) and guess what I even cranked out a whole 4 layouts. A few of them were very simple, but I think that is way okay every once in a while, or all of the time...how ever you feel like scrapping.

Happy Thanksgiving

To all of my Scrapbooking Friends and Family
Thanksgiving Friends
Thanksgiving is a time
For reviewing what we treasure,
The people we hold dear,
Who give us so much pleasure.
Without you as my friend,
Life would be a bore;
Having you in my life
Is what I'm thankful for!
By Joanna Fuchs
I haven't posted any pictures of Drew lately, because he's really not into taking pictures right now...going through a phase I guess(which I'm sure will last well into High School!)
This is a little ham when he's not being a little devil! I always have to take a million pictures just to get one of him smiling. Oh Happy Day! My next layout is going to be one of him titled "Complicated Order" for the ones of you who have seen Bon Qui Qui you'll know what I'm talking about...for the ones of you who have not then you have got to go to You Tube and check it out!

This is the one and only layout that I have done for myself in a really really long time. I had tons of fun using the Crate Paper line, everything on the page except for the ribbon is Crate Paper. Enjoy and I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Marbles Anyone???

Okay, as you all can see I am so bummed that I didn't get to take Karen Russell's class. So bummed that I had to try out my camera and see if I could do anything cool with it. I have never taken a digital photography class and from my pictures you can probably tell. From one of Karen's comments she said she wasn't into photo editing (she is def. my kinda gal!) Though the things that you can do in editing is awesome...I just don't have time to fit that into my schedule.
Tell me what you think. I like the way that the camera is not focused on Dax but the marbles. Kinda cool.

Calling Connie...Janet...Melissa...Monica can't wait until we get this support photography meeting on our books!

What a Beautiful Time of Year

Dax and I took the day off from work and school to spend some quality time together. We went to the pumpkin patch, which was Dax's first time and he had a pretty good time picking out a pumpkin. As you can see with the help of mom he picked a nice, bumpy pumpkin.
Here it is the one and only pumpkin that stole our hearts!

Well, I wasn't able to take Karen Russell's photography class, which I'm really bummed about that....but look ...I somehow got it right, whatever I did. I blurred the background. I love this picture of Dax!

In just a few days I will be teaching the November Calendar/Sketch class. I am so excited that so many of you are able to take the class. I know that it filled up quickly, but I promise if you are on my waiting list I am trying very hard to fit everyone in. Thank you all for the exceptional response to this class. I am enjoying each and every month with you all!

Happy Halloween!

Just a few (not so very good pictures of Halloween). What is is with kids not wanting to cooperate for picture taking. Come on- don't they realize we have to scrapbook every waking moment of their lives!!! Just kidding, but we went to a Family Fun Night at the school for Halloween and Dax boodayed (spelling all wrong, but you know what I mean) all night and Drew went off with his friends and wouldn't let me take pictures. Ugh!!!

Mardi Gras Madness

I finished the second of the two Mardi Gras albums that I was hired to create as Queen's gifts. Let me just say they go all out when giving gift's to the Queen. I completely forgot to take pictures of the first album but it was beautiful. The colors and theme was so much fun! This album was a little bit harder to master with the color scheme but overall I think it turned out nice. Hope you enjoy!

WITCHY WENDY

Today was my 2nd Halloween sketch class at TM. We had so much fun that we dressed up in this scary witch costume and had fun taking pictures. Ms. Helen Meaux also had a blast in this costume too. I can't wait to play with these pictures. The imagination studio was such a great idea (thanks Connie, Monica & Melissa for having such creative minds.) Janet did a great job getting the Halloween set up, it is really cool. Each background seems to outdo the next!

The Big 36 Came and Will GO Before You Know

Well here it is, the layout that I was so excited to use the new Sassafrass Lass paper. Okay, so I never thought I would like this paper because it's soooo cutesy...which is actually kinda my style, but I'm not a owl kinda person. Anyways, I had so much fun making this layout and paper piecing the cupcake which matches the paper.

Here are a couple of pictures from one of my birthday celebrations. I actually had one of the best birthdays ever! It felt like a whole weekend of celebrations. On Friday I played tennis, went to Tinsels and Treasures and then MDH took me to the movies and dinner! Wow, it was a full day. Then on Saturday when I got home from teaching at TM my family had a cake to celebrate my birthday and my anniversary which was the next day. Plus Janet got me a cake before my class...I think they are trying to sabotage my fitness plan. Hahaha, I enjoyed both cakes and ate most of both of them! Thank you all who made my birthday so special!

I will be teaching a calendar/sketch class that will go along perfectly with your spoooky pictures. I Know...I Know...it's been along time

If you are like me you love reading peoples blogs, seeing new layouts and looking at fantastic pictures. I have to completely apologize for taking so long to post. I just have not taken any pictures in such a long time because I have been sooooo busy with boys and work. As many of you know I have begun teaching the calendar/sketch classes as of August and that has kept me pretty tied up. I also have two albums that I am working on for a very cool lady. I can't post pictures yet, because it is a surprise gift and wouldn't want the special person to find out. It is of the life of a Mardi Gras Queen. Which is something I know nothing about. Maybe one day I'll have to join a crewe or something...it seems like a lot of fun! If anyone needs albums made just let me know, I'm always up for a challenge! I am still teaching computer lessons to preschoolers, I have cut that down just a bit to add more time for teaching scrapbooking. To say the least I have alot on my plate, but that's okay...I'm loving it! Please check back and hopefully I'll get some layouts of my own created!

Oh and one other quick note...many people have been asking how my parents did for Hurricane Ike. Well, they were verrry lucky. Nothing at all happened in their hometown. Though some of the rest of my family didn't fair so well. My brothers were and still are without power. My aunt and uncle just got word to us that they have a huge tree in the middle of their living room. They live in the Woodlands, which to my memory had lots of very tall trees. They happen to be huge LSU fans so they evacuated to Baton Rouge to see the game, thank goodness. I am just so thankful for my family all being alive and safe.

Another Class Opened

I know many of you didn't have internet access during Hurricane Gustav and didn't get to register for the calendar class. It did fill up quickly so we have decided to open another section of the class on SEPTEMBER 27TH at 3:00p.m. Please email me, post a message or call the store if you would like to sign up. This layout has many uses. Some people are bring pictures of their night out at the local Japenese restaurants, my pictures were from Las Vegas. Beautiful black and white pictures of your family would look great on this layout as well. You will learn some great techniques and use some new products that are out on the market. See you then!

Gustav Made a Grand Entrace

Well, maybe we shouldn't have been driving around town taking pictures, but you know how scrapbookers are. We had an adventurous Labor Day! We were very well prepared for the storm. I even cooked several meals ahead of time because I just knew we'd be without power. And of course an hour or two before it got bad it went out! I even made sure we cranked down the a/c before to get my house good and cold...I was walking around the house with a blanket!
This sonic is right down the road from us. It hit our area pretty hard!
We saw many downed electrical poles.
It is so amazing that the winds are so strong that it uprooted huge trees. We saw this at many different locations.
The shell station roof was knocked upside down. Look at the gas pumps. Jonathan said, "Well, they price gouge people anyway."
Here is my little man working hard!
